Literacy Work - w/b Wednesday 5th January 2022

For our first Big Writing after the Christmas break, we are going to be writing an information text about big cats.

It would be helpful if you could discuss the following with your child in preparation for Big Writing...

1) The word of the week will be devours

2) Research and record any interesting big cat facts using book resources or the internet

3) Look at the layout of an information text: paragraphs, subheadings, etc

Any work brought from home can be used in Big Writing on Friday 14th January.

Many thanks,

Mrs Vaqueiro

Happy Christmas!

It's the last day of school before the Christmas break, so 3V spent the morning playing board games, disco dancing and making and decorating gingerbread houses, which we then enjoyed nibbling during our festive film, 'The Polar Express.'

Mrs Sanders, Miss Tidmarsh and I would like to thank you all for your generous cards and gifts, and to wish you all a very merry Christmas, and a happy - and, most importantly, healthy - New Year.

Enjoy the holidays!

Mrs Vaqueiro

Christmas Party Day

Thursday was Christmas Party Day in Key Stage 2, beginning with a disco in the hall, courtesy of Mr Warren, and followed by some party games, including  pass the parcel and 'pin the nose on Rudolph.'  In the afternoon the ladies from Artbase helped the children create a wintry sketch, before we rounded off the day with some festive 'Just Dance' tunes.

Volcano!

One of Year 3's '50 Things to Do at Swan Lane' is to design and build a volcano.  What better way for 3V to round off their Volcanoes topic in Geography than to do just that?  This week, we have been hard at work constructing and painting a giant paper mache volcano, ready for the grand finale - a 'volcanic eruption' caused by the chemical reaction between vinegar and bicarbonate of soda!  It was lots of fun!
