Festive Fun and Games

We have been enjoying a fun day in 3V for the last day of school before Christmas!  The children brought in a selection of toys and games from home, and shared these with their friends.  We have also been making Christmas Sweetie Houses, which we will enjoy eating later on as we watch a festive film.

Christmas Party

Over the course of the autumn term, 3V have been working hard to win a Class Dojo reward.  Mrs Vaqueiro set them the collective challenge of earning 500 reward points in order to earn themselves a Christmas party.  Points are awarded for hard work, kindness, participation and teamwork, and between them the class have earned 541 points  since they started in Year 3!

Yesterday, they therefore enjoyed the rewards of their efforts, playing traditional party games such as pass the parcel, musical statues, musical bumps and 'Pin the Nose on Rudolph.'

The children also made party crowns to wear during their school Christmas Dinner.

We all had a great time!

Santa's Surprise Visit!

We had a surprise visitor in the playground this afternoon, when Father Christmas dropped by, bearing gifts for all the children!

More Maths - Right Angles

Today in 3V we have been learning all about angles.  We know that angles can be found wherever straight lines meet, and that some angles have special names, such as right angles.  We made some angle checkers (which bore more than a passing resemblance to Pac Man!) and went in search of right angles around the classroom.  There were lots!

Maths - Telling the Time

In our maths lessons recently in Year 3, we have been practising telling the time to the nearest five minutes using an analogue clock.  We are now much more confident about telling the time!

Nature in Art - Andy Goldsworthy

This afternoon, the children in Year 3 have been getting back to nature!  Led by the ladies from Artbase, each class headed outside into the autumn chill to gather natural resources and create their very own natural sculptures, inspired by the work of the artist Andy Goldsworthy.  Everyone had great fun and the results were stunning!
