Forest School Fun

Last Friday, 3V enjoyed the first of their two Forest School sessions for this year.  They had great fun building shelters and completing different challenges in the winter sunshine.

Thank you to Robbie, the Forest School leader, and Mrs Greaves for supporting the learning outside.

English lessons - w/b Monday 23rd January

For our English lessons over the next couple of weeks, we will be working towards writing our own time-travelling adventure story, taking inspiration from 'Stone Age Boy' by Satoshi Kitamura.

You can find a version of the story here: Stone Age Boy

We will be focusing on the narrative structure of the story and examining the feelings and emotions experienced by the Stone Age Boy throughout the book.

You can help your child at home by:

1. Exploring and retelling the story together.  Think about how you would feel if you travelled back in time!

2. Practising using the word of the week, captivated.

3. Think about using different adverbial openers for sentences in order to link events in the story.  Adverbial openers provide extra detail about how, when or where something happened.

Many thanks,

Mrs Vaqueiro

Art - Clay Sculptures

This half term in 3V we are studying different representations of fruit and vegetables in art.  We have been exploring the work of different artists such as Pieter Claesz and Georges Braque, who are famed for their still life paintings.

In our last lesson, we branched out into the world of sculpture and learnt how to soften, shape and join clay in order to make a sculpture of a half pepper.  We used the clay tools to add extra detail and markings to the clay.  The results were really impressive!
