Merry Christmas from 3V!

We've finally finished for Christmas, and are all ready for a well earned break from studying!  The children have settled in really well to life in Year 3 and have worked very hard towards their targets this term, so now it's time for a rest, to have to fun, and recharge our batteries ready for the challenges ahead in 2021!

I would like to take the opportunity to thank you all for the thoughtful cards and gifts that you have sent in for Mrs Sanders and me, and to wish you all a wonderful Christmas, and a happy and, most importantly, healthy new year.

I look forward to seeing everyone again on Tuesday 5th January 2021 (school is closed to children on Monday 4th January for a Teacher Education Day).

Best wishes

Mrs Vaqueiro

Christmas Fun in 3V

Today the children in 3V have been enjoying some different Christmas activities, assembling and decorating some sweetie houses, and making some Christmas tree decorations to take home.

Here are some photos of the fun!

Big Writing - w/b Tuesday 5th January 2021

For our first Big Writing after the Christmas break, we are going to be writing an information text about big cats.

It would be helpful if you could discuss the following with your child in preparation for Big Writing...

1) The word of the week will be devours

2) Research and record any interesting big cat facts using book resources or the internet

3) Look at the layout of an information text: paragraphs, subheadings, etc

Any work brought from home can be used in Big Writing on Friday.

Many thanks,

Mrs Vaqueiro

Christmas Party Day!

3V celebrated Christmas Party Day today with a variety of Christmas activities, a festive film and some traditional party games.

We had great fun playing pass the parcel, musical statues, sleeping lions and 'pin the red nose on Rudolph' as well as learning to do the twist to some Beatles classics, and practising our modern dance moves to the Christmas edition of Just Dance.

In the afternoon, we even had a special visitor, who left behind some chocolate coins for everyone to enjoy!

Here are some photos from our day...

Work for Children in Self-Isolation - w/b Monday 14 December 2020

Hello!

Since some of you are unable to come into school at the moment, I have uploaded lessons and resources for you individually on Purple Mash.  These will be 'live' tomorrow for you to complete.  You will need to use your login details to access the site.

I will be uploading further lessons and resources for you to do every day, if you are well enough, so please make sure you check your account regularly. It's also important for you to complete and submit the work to me for marking every day, using Purple Mash.  This won't be possible with some of the maths lessons, but you can complete these in your home learning books and ask a parent/carer to send photos in for me to see.

If you have any difficulties accessing the resources or completing the tasks, then please ring the school office and I will be in touch as soon as I can after school.

Many thanks,

Mrs Vaqueiro

Big Writing - w/b Monday 7th December 2020

For our Big Writing this week, we will be describing what Christmas might be like at the home of Mr and Mrs Twit.  Once again, we will be using Roald Dahl's 'The Twits' as a
stimulus: http://tinyurl.com/gm6vxvh

It would be useful if you could discuss the following with your child in preparation of Big Writing:

  • Discuss and practise using the word of the week ‘vile.’
  • Think about how you spend Christmas as a family – what are your traditions?
  • Then think about what Mr and Mrs Twit might enjoy on Christmas Day.  What foods would they eat?  What tricks would they play?  What presents would they give to each other?
  • Practise using conjunctions such as 'Despite' and 'Although' to begin sentences.
  • Think about what your opinion of Christmas with Mr and Mrs Twit might be - would you want to spend the festive season with them?

Any work completed at home can be used to assist with Big Writing on Friday.

Many thanks

Mrs Vaqueiro
