Science - Design a Magnet Experiment

In 3V, we have been working hard to complete our Science unit, exploring the exciting world of Magnets and Forces.

Last week, the children were tasked with designing their own experiments to measure and compare the strength of three different types of magnet.  They were given paperclips, rulers and different magnets and asked to collaborate with each other to design an appropriately robust scientific experiment.  They worked together very sensibly, and shared their ideas as a class. Together, we discussed their proposals and came up with a definitive plan for our scientific experiment, thinking about how we could ensure that our tests gave reliable and fair results.

The children then worked very sensibly in pairs to conduct the experiment and record their findings in an appropriate table.
